Learn more about Avisen
This page includes guides for Avisen, blockchains, and decentralized networks. Learn more about how it all comes together to protect news organizations.
The basics
-
A blockchain is a linked series of data. Each data point includes a digital signature that can be verified by a user. Data is organized into blocks and each block has a reference to the previous block. In order to change data in the chain, one must update the block after it, and the block after that one, and so on, making it extremely difficult or impossible to change.
-
A decentralized network is a peer-to-peer digital network where there is no central governing authority. Anyone can join the network as member and store the data. The more members, the stronger the protection.
-
Proof of Authority is the mechanism by which Avisen guarantees only vetted news organizations and reporters have access to save articles to the blockchain. To save an article, these organizations must digitally sign it. At that point the data cannot be changed or destroyed.
